The Dedicated Slabber

The dedicated slabber features an innovative oscillating bar system that delivers smoother, straighter, and more controlled cuts.

As you hand-crank the feed—an extremely light and easy action—the bar gently oscillates as it moves through the log. This means the cut is taken in smaller, progressive bites, constantly opening space for sawdust to escape. The result is a cleaner cut with less resistance and far better control.

The oscillating action also allows you to ease into and out of the cut smoothly, reducing load on the bar and improving cut quality. Because the bar oscillates, the effective cutting width is around five times that of a conventional bar, dramatically reducing the tendency for the bar to roll into or climb out of the cut. This produces noticeably straighter slabs.

Simple, highly effective, and genuinely innovative—another smart engineering solution from Turbosawmill.

This is a dedicated commercial chain-slabbing system, purpose-built for producing large, high-value live-edge slabs.

Power comes from a vertical-shaft Honda engine, with the drive transmitted through a stepped pulley system that increases RPM from a large pulley to a smaller pulley via a shaft. From there, power is delivered directly to the chain through a heavy-duty drive sprocket. The result is smooth, consistent torque exactly where it’s needed for wide slabbing work.

This system is designed specifically for commercial slab production, not general milling. It excels at cutting wide live-edge slabs for large-span tables, benches, and architectural features—applications where width, surface quality, and straightness matter most.

While slabbing is a niche within sawmilling, it is a high-value niche, and this system is built to serve it efficiently and reliably. If your focus is producing standout slabs rather than commodity timber, this dedicated setup delivers the performance and control required for serious slab work.

The assembly process is simple and modular, making it easy to move and set up the mill around your yard.

The dedicated slabber is supplied with jockey wheels, allowing the complete mill to be rolled easily into position. The carriage can be lifted directly off the beam and moved around on its built-in wheels; two people are required to safely lift it off the beam.

The end frames are bolt-together and can be separated for handling. Once assembled, they can also be moved around the yard by a single person using the supplied ATV-style fat tires.
