Turbosawmill: A New Chapter in the United States 🇺🇸

From our workshop in Tauranga, New Zealand, Turbosawmill has steadily grown into a global name in swing-blade portable sawmills. Today, we’re proud to announce that we have just completed our 42nd full container of sawmills bound for the United States—averaging about one container every month. This milestone marks another step forward as we continue to expand and strengthen our presence in the American market.

Navigating the Covid-19 Pandemic and Moving Forward

Like so many businesses, we faced unprecedented challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. Freight disruptions and market uncertainties made exporting to the U.S. more complex than ever, and there were moments when a downturn in sales seemed inevitable.

Rather than step back, we used the moment to re-evaluate our strategy and invest in improving our service. A key part of that journey was our partnership with Smith Sawmill Service, whose established reputation helped us grow and meet increasing demand. Together, we successfully shipped 32 containers of sawmills to U.S. customers. We’re deeply grateful to Smith Sawmill Service for their support and the role they played in helping us reach this level of success.

As circumstances evolved, we made the strategic decision to transition to direct shipments and provide direct support to our customers. At the time, this approach seemed simple and efficient: it allowed us to keep things straightforward while continuing to meet growing demand.

Why We Went Direct—and Why We’re Transitioning Again

Going direct was the right choice for that period, but the landscape quickly changed. The introduction of new U.S. tariffs added fresh layers of complexity to our export process. At the same time, we recognized the growing need for local representation in the U.S. to deliver the kind of service our customers deserve.

To meet these challenges and serve our customers even better, we are now proud to announce our partnership with Beaver Works Leasing LLC, led by Austin Melhorn, as our new official U.S. agent.
